How it all began…

So in 2016, I decided to retire.  Jan has been retired since 2010 and reminded me constantly of how great the retired life was.  We wanted to buy a sailboat and spend our retirement, or at least a large portion, cruising.  So, a year before I intended to retire we put a plan into motion where we would sell our house, all our belongings, our previous Catalina sailboat, and purchase a boat large and comfortable enough to take us wherever we wanted to go. We sold the house in June of 2017, purchased our dream boat in July, and I retired at the end of September.

Family and friends have been asking us if we were ever going to do a blog to document our adventures along the way. We always wanted to do it, but never found the time (or had the know-how). Over the Christmas holidays our son-in-law set up this site and gave us the nudge. For the past 18 months we have learned a lot had some wonderful experiences. What we hope to do is to share some of those as well as some of the cool adventures coming up.

Started sailing and racing Hobie Cats in the early 80's. Jan and I fell in love with the cruising life and retired to do more of it on our dream boat.

  1. This is awesome in every sense of the word! How brave of both of you to take that leap. I know you will enjoy the blog as means to document your adventures. We will all share them with you vicariously from the safety of our landlocked lives. Can’t wait to see more!
