Marathon (Boot Key)

(11 January 2018) After leaving Rodriguez Key we cruised into Marathon with the intent to stay for the night. We ended up staying two weeks. Not because the weather was bad, we just liked Marathon. The little marina where we stayed had just reopened after hurricane Irma. They had a nice restaurant and bar, new clean showers, and were within walking distance to other restaurants and shops. For once we were in no hurry to go anyplace so we just stayed.

The water color in the Keys is just stunning. I’ve never been there before, so seeing it for the first time … Well, it is indescribable.

The Stuffed Pig breakfast restaurant hosted by Willie B. Bacon (shown with Jan above) was just across the street. The History of Diving Museum up in Islamorada was well worth the visit.

Started sailing and racing Hobie Cats in the early 80's. Jan and I fell in love with the cruising life and retired to do more of it on our dream boat.
